Range Life

They're caught in the wild or caught in the store,
they're garnished with sauce or garlic or sage.
They're never aware what their life is for,
they're chickens, and they shall be called Free Range!
Free from the cages their poor friends live in,
they wander and flutter and peck and crow.
It's Eden for foul and it's free from sin,
aside from the sinister part, you know.
You'll hear folk remake, "Don't eat lest it's free!",
As if it's the upbringing that matters.
But chicken is chicken if you as me,
they still taste delish deep fried in batter.
So all the chickens who's lives are so great,
still end up next to baked beans on your plate.
